Peace Corps Timeline


My journey to Peace Corps has been a long one. I've considered service for nearly a decade. I started and stopped applications several times, not having the courage to hit submit. Well I was finally brave enough to submit, and I want to share what my official timeline looked like. Keep in mind that every timeline is different, and there are many factors that can contribute to waiting periods. I hope this adds some perspective as to how involved this process has been.

Applying

May 19, 2017 - Met with Peace Corps recruiter to discuss application process and country openings
June 13, 2017 - Submitted Peace Corps application
June 13, 2017 - Completed health history form to determine qualifying countries
June 20, 2017 - Application status switched to "Under Consideration - Kosovo"

Interviewing

September 28, 2017 - Interview request received
October 3, 2017 - Skype interview with placement officer
October 3, 2017 - References requested
October 27, 2017 - Invitation to Serve
October 29, 2017 - Invitation Acceptance

Clearance

October 29, 2017 - Submitted updated health history form
October 31, 2017 - Received access to medical portal providing instructions and tasks for medical clearance 
November 6, 2017 - Submitted legal paperwork and fingerprint cards
November 16, 2017 - Legal background check initiated
December 14, 2017 - All medical tasks completed
January 3, 2018 - Assigned nurse to review medical documents
January 18, 2018 - Received Medical Clearance
March 12 - Received Legal Clearance

Service

May 30, 2018 - Depart for D.C. for staging
May 31 - June 1, 2018 - Staging in D.C. 
June 1 - Depart for Kosovo
